gcocco software was incorporated in 1998 with the mission to better utilize Corporate IT infrastructure by analyzing and profiling their IT systems to maximize performance of hardware, middleware and application software. Times have changed! We can still do all of the "big iron" stuff, but have moved along with the times. We currently focus on developing, installing and modifying open source software to make them best fit with our customer's needs. We work primarily on Linux (Debian or Red Hat) and with Android based products (phones, tablets, etc). That is to say we are now primarily phone based and cloud based in our approaches.
On this site, we share tips and tricks that will help folks in the open source area fully customize their software. The items shared here tend to be things we have found are hard to do a google search and get a simple answer. Often, these areas have lots of contradictory advice, and little insight in to what the true answer is. We also have a print function that works so those of you dinosaurs like us can print things out and refer to them on paper. Yes, we know it is not "green", but paper is recyclable.
Lastly, we are not one of those "comment" sites. We hate going through pages of "thanks for the info" and other random comments. As nice as some of the feedback is, often much of it isn't worth the time it takes to read through it. We do accept advice and criticism, although it is only via email. We would like to especially hear about errors or clarifications in our descriptions, or better ways of doing things. We'll attribute credit to your comments where possible, but the intent is to convey the solution with the minimum of other "noise". If you would like to send us something, email us at open {at} gcocco {dot} com.
